Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How will people get to my shop when they are replacing
my sidewalk?
A. Temporary pedestrian walkways; will be
cordoned off and maintained during construction. Temporary pedestrian bridges/ramps
and routing signs will be provided by the contractor when needed to maintain
access to the retail shops and businesses during
construction.
Q. How long will the sidewalk in front of my
business/building be under construction?
A. Three (3) days
to four (4) weeks, depending on location and construction requirements (such
as underground features including utilities and vaults or rooms that extend
beneath the sidewalk).
Q. How will they start in July without messing up tourist
season?
A. The
first phase of construction is located on the
north side of Manitou Avenue in the immediate vicinity of Shoshone Spring and will
impact a relatively short section of street that currently does not have any
adjacent businesses. Therefore, the impact on pedestrians and
traffic will be very minimal.
Q. When will the street be re-striped?
A. The timing of re-striping Manitou
Avenue is currently unknown. The project team is presently working with
CDOT to
resolve laneage. pavement marking and right-of-way for the Avenue.
Q. How much parking will we lose?
A. Parking losses or gains will
not be determined until Nolte is further along with the preliminary plan
design. This
information is scheduled to be determined in late spring, 2004.
Q. How long will we be without power, phone, cable?
A. There will not be any lengthy interruption
in power, phone, or cable services. The utilities will not terminate service
from the existing lines until the new lines are in place and able to continue
providing service. Only
short duration interruption (possibly a few hours) with advance notification
may occur during switching over to the new service lines.
